Practice Makes…Not Perfect, But Authentic: The 30-Day Video Challenge

As I do more and more videos in this 30-Day Video Challenge, I’m finding that the practice makes me not perfect, but more and more authentic.

I worry less about the technical steps and am able to be more present with the content, the actual stuff I’m sharing with you.

That practice has allowed me to relax and be myself. I’m laughing and smiling more and improvising in the moment. O the holy grail of authenticity! It’s not something to be found or done, but rather something to be uncovered as my anxiety gets stripped away.

If this were the only outcome of these 30 days, I’d be thrilled! Gratefully, I’m learning a lot more that directly impacts my business, as you’ve seen in previous posts.

Let’s see how things are authentically going in the 30-Day Video Challenge. Here are the numbers on Day 19:

# videos: 24

16 on Facebook Live, 3 reshoots because of FB Live pixelated videos (due to insufficient upload speeds in my area), 3 just on YouTube, 2 in the Work Alchemy Video Challenge Facebook group

Facebook page Likes/Follows: +3/no change

Email subscribers: +4 since last update

Work Alchemy Video Challenge Facebook group: +3

I’ve been troubleshooting an issue with Facebook Live. My area does not yet have a fiber optic internet connection available, so upload speeds are not that fast, and that’s what determines livestream efficacy. I’m experimenting with broadcast times and will explore upgrading my service for better upload speed. These past 4 days saw a little bump in email subscribers, perhaps in response to a Facebook post about joining my email list.

Facebook ad investment: 0 since last update

YouTube video views: +61 since last update

YouTube channel subscribers: no change since last update

Most of the action seems to be on the Work Alchemy YouTube channel. I’ve certainly been mentioning the channel more often on social media and including links, giving people an opportunity to visit. Watch the videos yourself to see what has piqued so much interest. I invite you to subscribe while you’re there.

I’m encouraged by the YouTube interest in my videos and will run a new Facebook ad to hopefully stimulate engagement.
