Kathy Svetina is the founder of NewCastle Finance, a company
offering Fractional CFO services to women-owned small businesses.
For nearly 14 years, she did senior-level financial planning and analysis
for Fortune 500 companies. She saw firsthand how big companies use
financial information to drive their companies forward.

She started NewCastle Finance because she wanted to offer that
same powerful financial insight to women-owned businesses. Now,
she helps business owners as a “Financial Puzzle Solver” to get clear on
their numbers and their financial strategy so they feel confident they
are making good decisions that will result in a thriving business.

In This Episode:

  • A Chief Financial Officer (CFO), accountant, and bookkeeper play very different roles in managing a business.
  • Relentless growth doesn’t have to be a default for every business.
  • Small ways we have impact are also important.

For many entrepreneurs, having a handle on their finances opens the doors to new and bigger opportunities. In this episode, we talk about the importance of both knowing your numbers, and on a higher level, having a financial strategy in place that guides your decisions. Many small businesses are not yet at the point of having a C-level finance person, so a fractional CFO, someone at that level who works in your business part-time, could make perfect sense. Hear how Kathy’s special interest in supporting women entrepreneurs came partially out of Sara Blakeley’s early experiences (she’s the founder of Spanx, now a billion dollar company).
