Be More Visible, Boost Your Business

gravatarAs the owner of your business, being visible puts a human face on what you do and what you offer. It helps people connect with you. If the connection feels good, they’ll want to engage with you more, which is always good for business.

One of the easiest things you can do online to be more visible is to use your photo when you comment in a forum or a blog.

By the way, commenting on forums where your prospects and clients hang out is a great way to become known. If your comments are valuable to them, you’ll be seen as a go-to resource.

The quickest way to get your photo to show up in an online forum is to create a gravatar (globally recognized avatar).

Once you set it up, it’ll follow you from site to site (as long as the site’s gravatar-enabled, which most are) – easy-breezy and free!

If you’ve got a blog yourself, you can enable gravatars on your blog (WordPress already does) to get to know the people who comment on your posts.

Here’s a quick how-to to set yourself up with your own gravatar:

  1. Go to Gravatar.com.
  2. Enter your email, and then check your inbox. Click on your confirmation email.
  3. Add your photo. Use a professional photo. It’s part of your brand. Make sure it aligns with how you’re presenting yourself and your company.
  4. Crop your image so we can see your beautiful face!
  5. Now rate it. For the purposes of your business, make it a G – if you’re not sure how to rate the photo you chose, well, time for a different photo. 🙂

And you’re done!

When you start visiting gravatar-enabled websites, your photo should pop up, paving the way for more connection.

Your visibility is important to your business. Let us see you, and hear from you!
